West End digital stories

West End Digital Stories was a project of the West End Community Storytelling Group which has operated under the auspices of West End Community House since 1997.

The project received funding support from the Gambling Benefit Fund Grant, enabling it to purchase computer hardware and software; training and technical support from SpeakOut Community as well as engage the services of Project Coordinator and Artistic Director, Daryll Bellingham. The resulting collection of ten digital stories about the lives and important issues of members of the group were published on DVD and launched in early 2007.

These stories represent the diverse interests of an urban Queensland community; from the exuberance of a women's soccer team, to childhood memories of Christmas. This collection of stories provides an opportunity for some members of the group, who would normally not be heard because of disability or mental illness, the chance to tell their stories in empowering and heartfelt ways.
